Caliber 343 is an early bumper automatic movement. Its distinctive hammer-style winding mechanism is both charming and representative of its era. While this design is commonly seen in early automatic movements, its winding efficiency is relatively modest and was soon replaced by more efficient full-rotor systems. Chronometer-grade movements equipped with the RG regulator were produced in very limited numbers and are rarely seen on the market today. These were not standard production calibers, but specially selected and finely adjusted movements. The overall finishing quality is noticeably superior to regular versions, including mirror-polished ratchet and crown wheels, beveled gear edges, and refined details throughout. The automatic rotor is engraved with the jewel count and “Adjusted to five positions,” reflecting the meticulous standards applied for observatory-grade performance. After a complete service, this watch shows excellent amplitude, and remarkably, it even passed a water-resistance test.
