Omega REF. 14755-2 SEAMASTER 300 A FINE STEEL DIVER’S WRISTWATCH

OMEGA, REF. 14755-2, SEAMASTER 300, A FINE STEEL DIVER’S WRISTWATCH CIRCA: 1960s CASE MATERIAL: Steel CASE DIAMETER: 38.5mm BRACELET MATERIAL: Steel BRACELET SIZE: 8.5 inches / 215mm DIAL: Black MOVEMENT: Automatic BOX: No PAPERS: No Lot Essay: During the 1950s, professional and recreational diving began to emerge across the globe. Divers were in great demand for a reliable, tool watch that could aid them in timing their dives. Like many brands, Omega seized the opportunity to join the action. In 1957, the brand reworked and redesigned their Seamaster line to accommodate divers. The new Seamaster 300 was capable of a function at a depth of 300 meters. They added a turning bezel with a luminous pip, along with an adequately lumed dial and hands to help with legibility in dark, underwater conditions. The success of original Reference CK2913 was later followed by Reference 14755-2, such as the present lot. The timepiece has a charming, "pumpkin" patina on the dial which matches in color to the bezel. The 60 click bezel remains functional with tight, even clicks. The timepiece is fitted on its original and desirable Omega flatlink bracelet. The clasp is stamped “3,61” which matches the production year of the case. The diving watch has a large, non-screw down crown which allows for easy adjust on the fly. The watch measures at 38.5mm which is a wonderful size for a vintage sports watch.
