Omega De Ville Chronograph 145.018

Description

1969 Omega De Ville Chronograph Ref. 145.018

1969 Omega De Ville Chronograph Ref. 145.018, $2,800, Why This Watch Matters This Omega De Ville is a simple, three-register chronograph fitted with caliber 861, better known for its presence within Omega's Speedmaster collection. The Full Story Omega introduced the De Ville collection within the Seamaster family in 1960 as a way to bridge the gap between the core, tool-watch Seamaster line and the more sophisticated and dressy Constellation series. The result was a perfect hybrid, merging tool-watch grit and grind with a dosage of urbanity. In 1967, the De Ville became its own independent collection. Interestingly, this example, a ref. 145.018, was issued with both a Seamaster and De Ville signature as well as with or without a tachymeter scale on its outer track. We particularly like the clean silver dial configuration of this example without the tachymeter scale, which brings the nuanced details out to the forefront, such as the concentric snailing of the sub-dials. The watch is fitted with the famous Lemania-based, manually wound caliber 861. This copper-colored movement is the same movement that can be found inside the Speedmaster collection, starting with ref. 145.022 in 1968 and going up until 1997. According to Omega's archives, this De Ville was built on June 13, 1969, where it was then delivered to the Virgin Islands.
