The black gilt “galaxy” dial looks spectacular, with a steel Omega logo and a scatter of wear marks that makes it look like a starry night. It has faceted steel strip hour markers with lume dots at the outer ends, double at 12 o’clock. There are also a few small scratches at around 11 o’clock. The baton hands are in fair condition, with some visible corrosion and the original lume intact. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 21:00 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary. The stainless steel bezel is in fine condition with light overall wear. The stainless steel case with slightly spread lugs and the original crown is in fine condition, with some wear mostly at the lugs. The stainless steel case back is in fine condition, with a crisp and clean hippocampus logo and a few marks. It carries the inscription “Waterproof”. The case does not appear to ever have been polished. The original stainless steel bead of rice bracelet shows slight stretching and is in fine visual condition with light wear mostly on the links closest to the case. It is big enough for moderately large wrists. Make sure the specific bracelet size listed in the details is not too small for your wrist as finding spare links for old bracelets is very difficult. The bracelet can be shortened by up to about 2cm simply by moving a spring bar in the clasp. Inside the watch, Omega’s high grade 613 movement beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in January 2025 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
