Omega Constellation 368.1075

Description

Omega Constellation 35mm Automatic in 18k gold

One of the Eighties ultimate status symbols, this solid gold 1984 Constellation is the rarer automatic constellation too. Model reference 368.1075. HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH? From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1984. CONDITION A gold watch has always been a status symbol, but in the 1980’s it was even more so. In 1984 gold had increased in the base cost price by four times the price since 1970, making the premium to leap from gold plated to full gold unaffordable to most (and helps to explain the amount of bi metal or plated watches from this period). Unusually for the time Omega also made sure that this watch came with a chronometer rated automatic movement, whereas brands like Piaget used quartz movements even in their gold watches. This watch uses the copper coloured calibre 1111, with that colouring a throwback to the movement plating used by Omega in the 50’s and 60’s. This is available to see via the exhibition case back – again, an unusual feature back in the 80’s. As well as being chronometer rated this movement also has quick set date. The hands and dial are very good, and the case and bracelet have minor marks but do not appear to bad – one link has a dent, which is pointed out in the video for clarity. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website may have extra links if required. . This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box, an e**y authentication card from June 2022 for this watch, and our Certificate of Authenticity. This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.
