Omega Museum Specialties Museum Olympic Collection Sochi Petrograd Limited 100 Pcs

The new Sochi Petrograd Tonneau Sochi Petrograd Tonneau is a limited edition of 100 pieces. It is inspired on a watch that was first introduced in 1915 to the Russian & Eastern Europe market in 1915. This model is therefore named after Petrograd and its design reminds us of the Art Deco of that era. So why is this particular art deco era watch as a base for a new limited edition watch in honor of Sochi and the Olympics? Omega claims that the original piece was produced for a “Russian leader” in 1915. At that time Russia was still under the rule of a czar. So the watch would have been made for someone in the royal family or ruling class. It was not until a bit later in 1917 that the region experienced the Russian Revolution (and we all know what happened then). That said, it is rather impressive that the original watch somehow made its way back to Omega in good condition. The original 1915 model is sought after by collectors. The new Sochi Petrograd comes in a yellow gold case, the new model features a silvery-white dial with red numerals (13 to 24) and has blued steel hands. There you have the red, white and blue colors of the Russian flag! The Sochi Petrograd Tonneau watch is equipped with the modern co-axial movement, caliber 2202, an exclusive caliber with special luxury finish. The 18K yellow gold caseback is engraved with the logo of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games and the limited edition number. As already said, only 100 models of the Sochi Petrograd will be produced. The watch comes on a burgundy leather strap complete with an 18K yellow gold buckle.
