The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo 8 "Dark Side of the Moon" (311.92.44.30.01.001) draws its inspiration from the momentous Apollo 8 mission in 1968, a pioneering voyage that saw humans orbiting the moon for the very first time. While aboard the Apollo 8 spacecraft, the astronauts achieved a historic first by capturing images of the uncharted and shadowed lunar hemisphere, a milestone that bestowed upon this unique watch the moniker "Dark Side of the Moon" celebrating 50 years since the original mission. This timepiece has an elegant design with a special black dial that looks like the moon’s surface through a laser ablation process and a black ceramic dial with contrasting yellow accents. It wears well on the wrist with a supple black leather strap with yellow accents. This watch comes as a set including instruction booklet, pictograms card, soft carry case, original hangtag, and is triple boxed (black inner wooden box, outer black cardboard box and outermost brown cardboard box). Condition: A beautiful piece in mint condition. Crystal and bezel are pristine, with very minimal evidence of wear (see photos). Mechanically the watch is running well.
