What makes this Speedmaster truly special? The dial is a 'true moonwatch': made out of meteorite. Additionally, the caseback has a special engraving. This limited edition is numbered on the caseback. Our watch will come with original papers and a standard (non original) watch box. Apart from the important event it celebrates (the in-space meeting between East & West, the Soviet Union and the USA, during the legendary "Apollo-Soyuz" mission or "Soyuz-Apollo" if you come from the Russian side), the most memorable feature of this watch is its meteorite dial. To make the dial, OMEGA sourced a piece of the famous "Gibeon Meteorite". The meteorite pieces are thinly sliced and then chemically treated in order to create the black part via oxidation (with the sub-dials still keeping Gibeon meteorite's original grey color). This process highlights the unique structure of the Gibeon meteorite with its unique patterns.
