Very few pieces carry the weight of the Snoopy Speedmaster. This 50th Anniversary special edition celebrates the “Silver Snoopy Award” NASA gave Omega in 1970 after the Apollo 13 mission, when astronauts relied on their Speedmasters to manually time critical engine burns that brought the crew safely back to Earth. Snoopy, NASA’s long-standing mascot for flight safety and mission success, became the emblem of that award, and now lives on in one of the most collectible Speedmasters ever made. The 42mm stainless steel case houses Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, visible through a sapphire caseback that features an animated Snoopy in his Command and Service Module orbiting the moon. The crisp white dial contrasts with blue sub-dials and hands, while Snoopy makes his appearance at 9 o’clock. A blue ceramic bezel with white enamel tachymeter scale frames the dial, and the watch is completed by a blue nylon fabric strap with Apollo 13’s trajectory stitched on the lining.
