Speedmaster Moonwatch 3861 310.30.42.50.01.001 2022 Box and Papers

The Omega Speedmaster is one of the most recognisable chronograph designs ever produced. It became known as the "Moonwatch" after it accompanied astronauts on the Apollo 11 mission, which brought the first ever human to the moon. Unlike some of its competitors, Omega has hardly changed the overall aesthetic and functionality of the watch. This means that relatively little separates today's modern Speedmaster from the very watch that went to the moon. The newest generation of the Omega Speedmaster offers a few notable improvements. Firstly, it features the new cal. 3861, which adds a co-axial escapement to the movement. Invented by the legendary English watchmaker George Daniels, the co-axial escapement drastically decreases friction in the escapement, reducing the amount of wear the parts experience. The new Speedmaster's bracelet is also different, with a vintage-inspired taper and matte finish. This means that while the internals of the watch are more technologically advanced than ever, it's actually closer to the original in how it wears.
