Functions
Chronograph, Date
As for the condition, it is absolutely excellent as per the photographs. There are some signs of gentle wear commensurate with use, but HD, magnified photographs tend to exaggerate imperfections which are unnoticeable on the wrist, especially in titanium. This watch has just undergone a complete service by OMEGA and an array of new parts as described in the service document - as you'd expect all functions are working perfectly. I have checked the timekeeping over 24 hours and it is excellent, the date clicks over nicely, all chronographs reset to zero, while the bracelet fastens securely.

The OMEGA Seamaster is the most popular gents watch in the world, originally famous due to the association with the 'James Bond, Goldeneye', it has established itself as a cornerstone of the OMEGA catalogue. This Chronograph reference is crafted completely from Titanium, supremely light and comfortable, with a subtle dark gun metal grey hue. Demand for these earlier pieces has increased enormously since OMEGA re-released the latest Titanium examples in 2020. Rolex recently unveiled a full Titanium Yachtmaster at 2023 Watches & Wonders, which displays that it’s the metal of choice for cutting edge design and fashion.
These truly are tool watches, capable of use on boats, in military, and the outdoors just as well as at a desk, and at the current prices they are available for, this OMEGA stands as one of the absolute best value timepieces on the market. This example has just been overhauled by OMEGA at a cost of £843, and it would have been over £1300 but they replaced the bezel for free!
This Seamaster has huge wrist appeal, instantly recognisable when being worn due to the unmistakable design; from the blue 'wave' dial, to the scalloped bezel, 5-row rail ‘bond’ bracelet to the Helium escape valve. This reference 2298.80 boasts a bold 41mm case which wears substantially proud on the wrist while remaining remarkably light due to being crafted entirely from titanium. Within the case itself beats an OMEGA Cal.1164 self-winding automatic chronometer chronograph movement, which is supremely reliable and accurate - it will run for years without a second thought. There is a classic blue ‘wave’ dial which plays with the light in all the right ways, while there is a matching blue insert affixed within a scallop edged unidirectional rotating bezel. The ‘Bond’ bracelet on the OMEGA Seamaster is one of the most comfortable you’ll find, secured to the wrist with a double-pinch release deployant clasp thats etched with the OMEGA logo and fastens with a reassuring click, it’s also full titanium and does bear the brushed and highly polished finishes as you’d expect from the Steel pieces. There is a utilitarian date window, and a sapphire crystal glass for added peace of mind. If we turn the watch over, the Hippocampus insignia reveals itself along with a ‘Titane’ engraving, alongside the serial clearly visible on the reverse of the 7 O’Clock lug. Of course being a divers watch it can withstand depths of up to 300m, and is just as reliable in the boardroom as it is on the beach.
