The Omega Seamaster 300 released in 1957 was, in the words of an advertisement for the watch, “specially designed for professional and amateur divers.” Its water resistance was guaranteed to a depth of 200 metres. The watch was known as the 300 because its performance was far beyond the capacities of the testing devices of the time, a result of the high resistance of the crystal and the crown. The Omega 300’s rotating bezel made it possible for divers to keep track of the exact time of the duration of their dives. The caseback featured the now-iconic Seahorse medallion, where it has graced the backs of Seamasters ever since. This version the reference 2265.80.00 was launched at the start of the century and was set in a robust brushed finish 41mm stainless steel case. It features a uni-rotational divers bezel with polished bezel insert and a striking light blue dial embossed with the iconic wave-pattern dial as well as large block luminous hour markers and sabre hands. The dial features a date aperture at 3 o’clock and is protected by a domed sapphire crystal glass with a screw-down crown for 30atm (300m/1000ft) water resistance. It is powered by the Omega calibre 1538 quartz mechanism and fitted on a matching brushed/polished bracelet with dive extension clasp. Originally sold in January 2005 and in fine condition with signs of wear present on the polished bezel insert. This Seamaster comes supplied with its original Omega inner and outer boxes, instruction booklet, cream leatherette, pictogram and international warranty card.
