Omega Genève 131.021

Description

1960s Omega Genève Ref. 131.021 In 18k Yellow Gold

Why This Watch Matters A classic Omega dress watch – perfect for any occasion with "exact time for life." The Full Story These half-dress, half-casual Seamasters are some of the most recommended watches around the office here at HODINKEE. There are so many slight dial variants within this loose definition of early Seamasters, too – which is great if you're prone to collecting a few rather than picking just one. You can explore a diverse world of designs and history from one of Switzerland's most storied brands, all without the hassle of paying a premium. Today's example dates to the early 1970s and offers something slightly different than the Omegas that we're used to from this period. While the catalog was highlighted by the Speedmaster Professional and Seamaster 300, the brand's real bread and butter was right here in a time and date, automatic everyday wristwatch. Since 1931, one of Omega's mottos has been, "Omega – Exact time for life," and while there are so many great examples of that coming to fruition, few are better than this watch we have here today. Like Cole P says "Always read the caseback." This Omega features a logo and employee dedication engraving from a large Swedish paper manufacturer. We can assume the watch was presented to a long-time employee as a thank you for service or, possibly, to celebrate the firm's 50th year anniversary. We paired this Omega with our Bedford suede watch strap in a light brown tone to play off of the nice patina on the yellow gold case.
