Description Beautiful and rare chronograph. Round steel housing of 38.5 mm in diameter. Screwed background. Bidirectional graduated black bezel. Black dial with two counters; Totalizer of the minutes at 3 o'clock and permanent second hand at 9 am. Painted square indexes and sticks. Manual reassembly mechanism, Valjoux caliber. Nivada Grenchen is a Swiss watchmaking house created in 1926 by Jacob Schneider and located in the small town of Granges. Since its creation, the brand has offered four collections: Chronomaster, Antarctic, Depthmaster and Datomaster. In 1960, the so -called Newman chronomaster appeared in the collection. The creation of this exotic dial goes to Jean Singer Dialer in the Swiss Manufacture. This dial has three particular characteristics, on the one hand the Art Deco Newman typography, the red border with the tachymmetric scale and on the other hand the red minute counter also called regatta. Regarding the caliber, it is equipped with the Valjoux 23 caliber then very widespread at that time. With all these similarities, this chronograph could be compared on many points to its most popular rival Le Daytona Paul Newman from Rolex dating from the same time.
