Montblanc Exo Tourbillon 114864

Description

18ct Red Gold, 42mm Montblanc Star 4810 Exo Tourbillon Slim, Automatic Wristwatch, circa 2018

Description: Launched in 2016 to mark Montblanc’s 110th anniversary, the 4810 ExoTourbillon Slim blends the maison’s most advanced mechanical innovations with classical finishing. This reference was nominated in the Tourbillon category at the 2016 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG ) and features the patented ExoTourbillon mechanism, a novel design in which the balance wheel is placed outside the rotating cage. This allows for improved isochronism and higher efficiency by reducing inertia and isolating the regulating organ. Unlike traditional tourbillons that halt the cage to stop the movement, Montblanc’s quick stop-second function acts directly on the balance, allowing precise, to-the-second setting, without affecting amplitude. The calibre MB 29.21 is only 4.5mm thick despite housing a full micro-rotor and tourbillon assembly. Its barrel, rotor, and balance are placed with calculated equilibrium to ensure energy efficiency and accuracy. The micro-rotor itself is decorated with a Côtes de Genève en éventail motif and leaves the movement visible through the sapphire case back. All functions are crown-operated, with an indicator on the dial to show the crown’s active position (winding, setting, or stop-seconds). A red arrow mounted on the tourbillon cage acts as the seconds hand. The model was tested under Montblanc’s Laboratory 500 standard, simulating 500 hours of real-world use. It stands as one of Montblanc’s most technically accomplished wristwatches and a rare opportunity to own a unique take on the modern tourbillon.
