That’s exactly what collaborative projects will continue to do for the entire watch industry. Whether it’s among the watch brands themselves, or a crossover from an adjacent industry, collaboration watches are what’s going to drive ‘watches’ forward. We can arguably say that Massen LAB is among the handful of brands that pioneered this whole concept – to take something conventional from a brand’s catalog, and completely turn it on its head, creating a totally new concept that wouldn’t have otherwise existed. Between their inaugural project with ERWIN LAB01with Habring², the ‘Honey’ 17.09 with MING, several collabs with darling Italian brand, Unimatc, and many other collaborative watches, Massena LAB has been busy from the get. This particular Massena LAB piece is a special watch because it represents the first time the brand released a watch solely under the name – the Uni-Racer. This UR-002 features a 38mm stainless steel case with an acrylic crystal, a set of barrel pushers framing a signed crown. The luminous matte black dial features a ‘Big Eye’ dial with a pair of silver subsidiary registers with red accents and a modern take on a ‘dauphine’ handset. It houses the mechanically sound Sellita SW510 manual winding chronograph movement and is fitted on a signed taupe leather strap with a signed steel pin and buckle. What’s more is that this UR-002 is in impeccable condition and comes with a full set. We’re big fans of Massena LAB and it gives us great pleasure to introduce the very first watch that solely bore their name on the dial. Sure, we dig the collaborative pieces, but watching the brand stand alone is even better.
