Massena LAB Erwin LAB01 E-LAB01

Description

Massena Lab x Habring2 Erwin LAB01

The world of independent watchmaking is particularly diverse, but two of the industry's most prominent names have been Habring2 and Massena Lab, founded by husband and wife duo Richard and Maria Kristina Habring and William Massena respectively. In 2018, these three independent powerhouses decided to collaborate on a watch and create the Erwin LAB01 that we have here. Inspired by 1930s watchmaking, the Erwin LAB01 features a black sector dial that comes complete with golden inscriptions across its entire dial which is then housed within a 38.5mm bronze case that feeds into its golden aesthetic. With gold-plated raised sector dividers, numerals and feuille hands, the LAB01’s dial is a particular treat. However, on the watch’s other side is stunning view of the LAB01’s manual-wind cal. A11MS that includes a deadbeat function, so that it drives the second hand only once per second, giving the LAB01 the appearance of a quartz watch. A particularly complicated mechanism, the LAB01 had to be kept as a limited release, and so only 50 examples were produced. Inspired by the dials of the 1930s, the LAB01 features a black sector dial complete with golden inscriptions, numerals, sector dividers and railway minute track. Made of an aluminum bronze allow and measuring 38.5mm, the LAB01 fits on the wrist perfectly with universally appealing dimensions. Thanks to bronze's properties, the LAB01's case also develops a wonderful patina that is difficult to not enjoy.
