The field watch gained popularity during the First World War due to soldier's demands for accurate and durable timepieces. This Atacama Field features a 45 mm gunmetal PVD case with a black carbon fiber dial matched with gray pencil-style hands and Arabic numerals as hour markers in both 12- and 24-hour formats. Tritium-based luminescent tubes called LLT's illuminate the watch thru its hands and inserted along the sloped flange as secondary hour markers. This is complemented by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and a black PVD-coated fixed bezel. The bordered day and date windows are interestingly apart, the day window being at the 3 o'clock position adjacent to the sizeable screw down crown while the day window is at the 9 o'clock position. Touches of white and red contrast is evident via the dial texts and markers, Luminox shield, day/date and flange. A black leather strap is secured by a gunmetal PVD-coated steel buckle and completes the contemporary yet vintage look. This watch has a screw down caseback wherein underneath lies the Ronda caliber 517 HH6, a Swiss quartz movement and is water-resistant up to 200 meters/660 feet.
