After having explored the earth and the sky in the twenties and thirties, athletes turned to the ocean depths in the fifties in the early days of diving with compressed air. This turning point promoted the development of divers watches. The reliable and elegant divers watches produced by Longines experienced great success, with the Longines Heritage Diver 1967 drawing its inspiration from a dive watch Longines produced in 1967. Its graduated Bordeaux diving bezel contrasts elegantly with its black opaline dial and silver-coloured counters. This chronograph watch is also equipped with a tachymeter function. An original piece is kept in the Longines museum in Saint-Imier. This version the reference L2.808.4 comes set in a polished 42mm stainless steel case with a graduated Bordeaux diving bezel. The dial is a black opaline with 2 silvered registers at 3/9, with the chronograph hours stored on the black 6 o`clock register and the date aperture found between the 4 and 5 o`clock indicators. The hands and 9 of the hour indicators are coated in Superluminova with the tachymeter scale shown on the inner flange and the dial protected by sapphire crystal glass. The watch is rated to 30atm (300m/1000ft) and powered by the automatic calibre L688.2 which is a column wheel chronograph that boasts 27 jewels and a 54 hour power reserve. The watch comes is fitted on a stainless steel bracelet with double security folding clasp, in addition to coming supplied with an additional blue leather strap. Originally purchased in March 2016 and in fine condition due to a mark on the bezel, this Longines comes with its original inner and outer boxes, instruction booklet, heritage booklet and international warranty card.
