Longines Agassiz White Gold Pocket Watch with Breguet Numerals
We are proud to be able to offer Early 20th Century White Gold Agassiz Pocket Watch. This open face Art Deco Agassiz (Longines) pocket watch, dated 1922 or 1923 according to the Agassiz movement serial number, made of solid 18K white gold -- even the dust cover is white gold and not base metal. This was for sure the pinnacle of Longines pocket watches at that time and it makes it a very rare watch, as yellow gold or silver was usual but solid white gold was a very rare exception back then, almost 100 years ago. The white gold alloy was invented in 1912 in Germany and thus it is one of the first examples of a white gold pocket watch -- historical. The case is hallmarked 18KWG and AW for the case maker Albert Wittnauer & Cie. SA -- the company that formed Wittnauer watches and another subsidiary of Longines at that time. The dial is obviously in its original condition and not refurbished. It is thus around 100 years old now, and it shows some minor signs of aging and oxidation -- nothing problematic and very authentic. The hand-cut applied Breguet Numerals are as beautiful and high class, as is the highly jeweled (17 rubies) premium Agassiz movement. The back shows and engraving (AMG? AMC?). The movement is in excellent clean and unscratched condition and is running fantastic after our service. Overall, the watch is in very good and -- given the age -- fantastic condition. The case closure is closing tight and safely and no lid is over-stretched or has dents.Office in Pfaeffikon, SZ and Lugano, TI.Longines Agassiz White Gold Pocket Watch with Breguet Numerals
