He then proposed pocket watches and named them after the legendary king of Sparta. He is interested in time-measuring instruments like his colleagues: Leon Breitling, Charles Heuer or Alfred Lugin. Several governments order aircraft watches from the manufacturer for their aircraft. The Leonidas brand, reserved for precision watches, appeared in 1903, then gave its name to the company in 1909. In the 1960s, Leonidas supplied the Italian Air Force with splendid CP1-CP2 "Return in Flight" chronographs. The proposed model "e.i Esercito Italiano" is of type CP2. A magnificent steel chronograph with a round case of 42mm diameter, very nice dimension for this pilot's watch. A beautiful and very legible black dial with Arabic numerals on the hour-markers, two counters with the "Flyback" or "Return to Flight" function that allows pilots to reset their chronographs with a single push of a button. A large black epoxy bezel with 60-minute graduation gives the whole a sporty character that characterizes this mythical model. Beautiful tritium skeleton needles. The movement is mechanical, hand-wound with a Valjoux calibre. This is a very nice example of toolwatch, whose beautiful and homogeneous vanilla patina gives this model an exceptional aspect. Leonidas offers us here a military pilot's chronograph, very interesting in collection, a vintage well known by the amateurs of beautiful historical watchmaking.
