LEONIDAS is a historic Swiss watch brand, founded in 1841, known for its precise timepieces and technical expertise. Over time, the brand gained recognition for its innovative designs and reliable movements, often associated with military and sports timing.
One of the most distinguished complications offered by Leonidas is the TRIPLE DATE MOONPHASE. This elegant complication combines a full calendar display with day, date, and day of the week indications, alongside a moonphase indicator. These features allow the watch to display the phases of the moon while also providing a comprehensive calendar in a classic, well-balanced dial layout.
This vintage Leonidas Moonphase Triple Date watch is a rare find, equipped with the renowned Calibre ETA 1100 movement. The timepiece has been fully serviced (on September 2024), with a new Swiss-made mainspring installed, ensuring a smooth operation of all complications. The watch runs reliably with a power reserve more than 35 hours.
The case had a significant loss of its gold-plated layer and has been restored with a new 24K gold finish. While the case restoration was carefully completed, it still shows some signs of wear such as scratches, scuffs, and small dents, particularly in areas where previous watchmakers accessed the case for service.
The original black dial remains untouched and displays beautiful patina and fading, adding to the vintage character of the watch. The minute, hour, and seconds hands, have also been restored and plated with 24K gold, as well as the date indicator with its distinctive red accent.
The glass seems to be original and it shows signs of wear.
Please note, if you acquire this or any Moon phase complication watch, adjustments to the moon phase should only be made at midnight (or midday) to prevent damage to the mechanism. It is also important to note that the month on this caliber must be changed manually.
The watch is fitted with a genuine lizard leather strap used but in a good condition.
Vintage watches are not guaranteed water resist or waterproof unless said so.
