Description

c1955 Lemania 35mm dress watch

Lemania have always been prized for their chronograph movements. This three-hander still uses an in house movement, but this time it is calibre 3170. HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH? From the date period of the movement, combined with other styling clues we can date this watch to being made circa 1955. CONDITION When people think of Lemania you are immediately reminded of the chronograph movements made for Omega, Tissot, Longines and others. Finding a less busy dial is harder, but thankfully much cheaper than the chronograph movements both to buy and maintain. The 20 micron gold plated case is good, bordering on very good. The golden dial has hour markers and hands in copper tone, and the only splash of colour is the red tip of the sweep seconds hand. The dial has a slight smudge over 4, noticeable in some lights/angles, and the crown has lost the gold cap but still functions perfectly well. This is a good size watch for the period, and wears larger than the dimensions suggest. The leather strap is new, and has a gold tone buckle to match. The movement is all in house and is setting and winding well, and keeping good time. Model / case number 241. This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity. SIZE Width with crown 36.2 mm Width without crown 34.6 mm Between lugs 18 mm Lug to lug length 43.1 mm Case Thickness 9.9 mm All sizes are approximate.
