Please read the full description for more details... 100% Original 1970s Vintage LeCoultre Memovox HPG Automatic Alarm Watch with Date Founded in 1883, Jaeger LeCoultre is a well regarded luxury watch brand. Up until the 1950s, LeCoultre was one of the prestigious brands of watches sold by the fine leather goods store Hermes. The first Jaeger-LeCoultre alarm watches were introduced late in 1950 and used the brand, "Wrist Alarm". Shortly thereafter, the company introduced the "Memovox" brand, a traditional that has since ensued. Intended to compete with the 1949 Vulcain Cricket alarm watch which saw great success, the first Memovox models were manually-wound. Jaeger-LeCoultre's innovation was the separation of the power reserve for the timekeeping and alarm functions by way of two separate mainsprings. In hand-wound Memovox models, the alarm spring is wound using the crown at the 2 o'clock position, which is also used to set the 12-hour alarm disc which activates the alarm. Memovox watches were also sold by Cartier, Gubelin, and Van Cleef & Arpels. Movement: High grade 17 jewel Swiss caliber K916 Movement is an automatic wind movement with dtae and alarm function. Signed LeCoultre. It has been newly serviced by a master watchmaker. It runs and keeps time in good order. The alarm function works. Dial condition and detail: Brushed bronze, gold, and silver tone dial with raised silver baton markers at all but the 3 o'clock position where there is the date window. Markers at the 12, 6 and 9 o'clock positions are subtly accented with orange centers. Outside minute track in dark blue on silver; inside alarm minute track in white. The dial and alarm disc are both unfinished and as found: on close inspection, some wear can be seen, most noticable on the very outside silvered track, but this does not detract from the overall beauty of this piece. Baton shaped hands completes the look. Case condition and detail: Two tone case in Stainless steel with 14K gold cap. Signed LeCoultre. Case is in good to very good vintage condition. Both the crowns are original and signed JC. Crystal/Glass condition: Plastic crystal in good condition. Bracelet condition and detail: Vintage 14K yellow gold stretch bracelet is original to this piece and is in very good to excellent condition. It is signed F3F; 127; CDL; F2; 14K on the clasp. Size of watch: about 37mm in diameter not including the lugs or crowns. Bracelet width: 19mm Will fit wrist size: 7" in circumference (unstretched). This can be made smaller by removing links. General comments: An elegant vintage watch with a rich history. Suitable for a man who prefers a medium sized watch, or a woman who prefers a large sized watch. Ready to wear. Please note: Because this is a vintage watch, California Watch Company can not guarantee it will be water proof or water resistant. Please treat with care. ************************************** Stock#CAW.0958.+MNN Get Images that Make Supersized Seem Small.
