Its breathtaking deep red urushi dial is something photos rarely capture—the shifting tones, warmth, and depth are truly best experienced in person. The dial features a traditional Hamon (刃文) pattern—meaning “blade pattern”—inspired by the hardening lines found on finely crafted Japanese blades. Resembling mountainous terrain with peaks and dips, Hamon was historically seen as proof of a maker’s dedication to producing the finest work. On the Grand: Akane, this effect is repeated across the dial, creating an ethereal contrast of lighter and darker reds. This Hamon pattern is finished using the rare Japanese Niiro (煮色) patination method and sealed with suki-urushi lacquer. As it ages, the urushi develops unique shades based on wear and light exposure, making each watch a personal, evolving work of art for its owner. Reserved only for the Grand line, the caseback features Hajime Asaoka’s calligraphic signature, hanko stamp, and Kurono logo—an exceptional detail that makes this piece even more special. The watch comes complete with the original box and warranty, as well asthe exclusive Kurono Tokyo sake cup reserved for special customers. It has only been worn a few times and shows only light hairline scratches on the case. In 2023, the hands were professionally replaced by Kurono Tokyo due to a minor cosmetic scratch upon original delivery, so all the parts of the watch come from Kurono Tokyo. The dial has been carefully kept away from sunlight, allowing the next owner to experience the full beauty of its natural patina journey from the very beginning.
