The Grand Jubilee Calendar features a triple-calendar complication that shows the day, date, and month, apart from the time. Hajime Asaoka’s personal signature seal gives recognition to the Grand Jubilee Calendar, which is in our Grand Series of watches. For the Jubilee year, it is specially presented as a medallion in gold-plated steel with Sensei’s hanko engraved. To mark Hajime Asaoka’s 60th Diamond Jubilee, a natural black onyx cabochon adorns the watch’s crown. This time, the hands have also been finished in the same black, reflecting Asaoka’s attention to detail. Black, being a multi-hued color, necessitated extensive experimentation to achieve a deep, onyx-like black on the hands. With this new Grand Jubilee Calendar, I've created a circular recess around the date window itself and then opened the date window inside that recess. This approach effectively makes the dial look thinner. At the same time, the dial now features a guilloché pattern, which also shapes the recessed areas for the month and day indicators. This results in a well-balanced depth that combines both visual appeal and improved legibility.
