The Kurono Vermilion Chronograph "shu:朱" is a standout piece among Kurono Tokyo's recent creations, designed by Hajime Asaoka as an exceptional work of art. It stands out for its bright vermilion red-orange dial, a color ("shu") chosen for its cultural significance in Japan: torii gates, urushi lacquer, armor, and symbolism of protection and power. The color was not decided immediately: Asaoka subjected prototypes to UV exposure testing, placing them in the south-facing window of his workshop, half covered for 40 days in summer and 60 days in winter, simulating more than ten years of use. Only two pigments, "selenium red" and "vermilion," withstood the test. Vermilion was therefore chosen for its durability. This watch is a limited edition "exclusive salon" model, available only in Tokyo (Aoyama salon) and Shanghai (Kurono salon).
