It was started by renowned Japanese watchmaker Hajime Asaoka, who amassed his following by making some of the world’s finest hand-made watches in extremely limited numbers and released under his own name. The watches made under the Hajime Asaoka brand proved to be almost impossible to acquire and of course, have a base price that can’t exactly be called accessible - but you would expect to pay serious money for such high-end pieces. And so, the Kurono brand was born, providing fans with an opportunity to obtain pieces designed and individually tested and inspected by Hajime Asaoka at a very accessible price point. That was the idea anyway. As with all things in the watch market, when something great pops up it’s bound to attract an insatiable level of demand, and that’s exactly what happen with the Kurono brand. Each release of new Kurono watches has been snapped up almost immediately with examples on the secondary market proving extremely popular. This Kurono Tokyo Shiro was released in February 2022 and, as expected, sold out instantly. This highly attractive watch draws its inspiration from classic watchmaking, but is modern in every aspect of its make. Accessories The watch comes as a complete set with box and papers. The set is a sight to behold, beautifully presented and quite unlike anything else on the market.
