This particular watch, the Grand:Hagane, features a 37mm stainless steel case, an unsigned crown, a sapphire crystal, a deep and complex Tamahagane inspired brown dial with Koji indices, a matching syringe handset, and the Miyota Calibre 90S5 automatic movement. Fitted to a black calf leather strap with a steel pin buckle, it comes with all of its accessories, including its warranty card. Its most striking feature is the dial, finished using the traditional Japanese craft of urushi (lacquer). The dial color, known as Hagane-iro (“steel color”), is a deep black-brown tone reminiscent of the metal surface of traditional Japanese swords. The indices feature kanji numerals, including large characters once used in Japan’s traditional timekeeping system. This model is a perfect blend of Japanese aesthetics and masterful watchmaking — a true collector’s piece. In as-new condition showing only faint handling wear, this Hajime Asaoka Seiji combines one of the most popular colorways of the year with a perfectly sized case in a limited run of just 400 pieces.
