Founded by Stefan Kudoke, Kudoke is a German independent watchmaker famed for their stunningly executed, competitively priced timepieces and for having won 2020’s GPHG “Petite Aiguille” award. Launched at Baselworld 2019 and inspired by vintage timepieces from Glashütte and Dresden-based masters of their craft, whose work shares similarities with some of the old English watchmakers, the Kudoke 2 Starry Night is an expertly crafted timepiece with an aesthetic that is a joy to behold. Created in 2023 as a collaboration with Wei Koh’s Grail Watch, this limited edition offering of just 30 pieces boasts a stunning blue dial with a “twisting vortex” guilloche that contrasts its silver brushed chapter rings and perfectly matches its 39mm blue CVD-treated grade 5 titanium case. Boasting twisted hands and Kudoke’s “sky disk” at 12 o’clock, the entire aesthetic is filled with Kudoke’s personality. Of course, like most of Kudoke’s work, the Kudoke 2 Starry Night’s piece de resistance is its manual-wind Kaliber 1-24H movement, which is proudly on display behind its sapphire crystal caseback. Hand-finished to a high standard and featuring an entirely gold-plated construction, the Starry Night’s movement demonstrates just how good value Kudoke’s timepieces are - considering the level of care and meticulous attention paid to its surfaces, with an entirely hand-engraved balance cock serving as the ultimate tribute to Glashütte and Dresden watchmaker’s artisans. THE CONSTRUCTION Made of blue CVD-treated grade 5 titanium and featuring nicely downturned lugs and a stepped bezel, the Starry Night 2's construction is as bright and finely executed as its dial and incredible movement.
