Superb bold styling combined with a resonant and clear repeating sound has made this model one of the most sought after of Jaeger’s complicated watches, the pitch and tone of the chimes was developed in collaboration with the famous French orchestra and opera conductor Georges Pretre. The gongs emit a sound of 55 decibels from a distance of two feet. The dial displays the mechanical functions through three openworked segments including both power reserve and spring barrel torque indications. The present reference, Q1646420, is fitted with the 43 jewel caliber 947 three-quarter plate movement bearing the facsimilie signature of Antoine LeCoultre which is visible through the sapphire crystal case back. Two years in development, it was the first minute repeater to be water resistant to 50 metres.
