Jaeger-LeCoultre Club 1950

Description

Jaeger-LeCoultre Club Antique Watch Cal. 1900/01 EXTRA RARE

This is a good quality and clean 1970s designed hybrid between sports and dress by Jaeger LeCoultre. Lesser known to collectors the Club range operates under the radar. This is in part due to the use of Ebauche movements in this range from A. Schild. These movements were finished at LeCoultres Le Sentier factory to the highest possible standard. This likely came as a strategic response to the quartz crisis, trying to offer mechanical watches at a more appealing price point. The LeCoultre name features on the case and movement due to the rights relating to the name globally. As the US was a big market but didn’t benefit from the use of the full Jaeger-LeCoultre name, factory pieces were marked LeCoultre regardless of location, to simplify assembly. European models received the full Jaeger LeCoultre name on the dial. The case is circular and well proportioned, made of Stainless Steel Gold Filled, with faceted lug design. The dial is clean and simple with a silver sunburst finish and baton hour markers. The movement is a calibre 1900/01 which is reliable and good quality. This is a well packaged dress watch from Jaeger LeCoultre. The case is made of Stainless Steel and Gold Filled and is neatly proportioned at 33.5mm x 33.5mm, with a lug-to-lug measurement of 40mm. The bezel is in good condition and has a polished finish. The lugs have a faceted finish which is very tidy. The sides have a flat polished section, tapering at the bottom to meet the case back. The side profile of the watch appears like it consists of three sections, a neat design feature. The case has light surface scratching and remains unpolished. This is a very neat and simplistic dial from Jaeger which creates a very subtle and well-balanced appearance. The dial is completely original and has a silvered. The dial is signed Jaeger-LeCoultre in black, with T Swiss Made T at 6 O’clock. The hands are original and of stick style. The crystal is a replacement plexiglass which is in average condition, with light marking, but nothing that detracts from the dial. The case back is in very good condition for the age, with light surface scratching. The main face has a brushed finish which is in good condition, whilst the side is polished. The movement is a Le-Coultre 1900/01 which is a Le-Coultre modified AS calibre 1900. It has 17 jewels and incabloc shock protection. It is a good quality, sturdy and reliable movement. It also has the benefit of much less costly repairs and parts, than a full Le-Coultre movement. The movement is in good condition and is working well. It is keeping time to +22 seconds a month, with an amplitude of 290 degrees and a beat error of 0.2m/s.
