Reference: 220.006 Model: Atmos 150th Anniversary Material: Brass, glass, enamel Year: 1987 Dimensions : H x D : 34 x 22 cm Notes: Inspired by the first ATMOS 0 prototype presented in 1927 (see photo), the watch rests on a round brass base and is protected from dust by a hand-blown glass dome. The watch movement is distinguished by its cylindrical case at the back. Inside, a bellows-shaped expansion chamber contains a saturated gas, chloroethyl. Under certain pressure conditions, temperature variations cause a strong change in the ratio between liquid and gas and, consequently, in the pressure in the expansion chamber. A temperature variation of 1°C moves the bottom of the bellows by approximately one millimeter and thus exerts pressure on a spring located in the bellows. The chain mounted on the spring transmits the force to the movement and thus provides the necessary energy for a running time of approximately 48 hours. This interesting winding mechanism is complemented by an excellent movement with extreme precision. The heavy torsion balance wheel, with its characteristic six adjustment screws, also recalls the beginnings of the Atmos watch in the 1920's and 1930's. Condition : Very good condition of the case, movement and box. The clock works perfectly, with absolute reliability and precision.
