That of "perpetual motion" is a dream that watchmaking has nurtured for a long time throughout its history, and it is thanks to this dream that the Atmos automatic watch has become a reality. The Atmos is a watch that can function simply "by air": invented in the 1920s by Jean-Léon Reutter and perfected by Jaeger-Le Coultre, with regular production starting in the mid-1930s. In practice, the Atmos is able to function without any human intervention, simply by harnessing the energy provided by normal variations in ambient temperature; to this end, its movement encloses a bellows container filled with ethyl chloride and connected to the barrel spring; any even slight variation in temperature causes a change in the volume of the gas, resulting in the expansion or contraction of the bellows, which, acting on the spring, winds the pendulum clock. The Manufacture of Le Sentier guarantees the operation of the Atmos pendulum clock for at least 600 years. I guarantee the utmost seriousness and veracity of the object. The photographs are current of the item for sale.
