Jaeger LeCoultre, Reverso, Grande Taille Ref. 270.8.62 steel wristwatch 2000s Manual-wind movement Silvered dial with arabic numerals Case n. 1713847 Movement n. 3554504 Cal. 822 Size mm 26x42 The iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso was born in 1931 from a challenge posed by British polo players in India, who wanted a watch that would be shock-resistant during matches. The answer was ingenious: a revolving case that protected the fragile glass of the dial. Initially conceived as a sports watch, the Reverso quickly became a symbol of Art Deco elegance. Its reversible case also provided an ideal surface for personalized engravings, adding a touch of uniqueness. However, over the decades, the Reverso lost some momentum in the market, almost risking oblivion. In the 1970s, Giorgio Corvo, owner of a renowned watch shop in Milan, played a crucial role in reviving the model during a visit to the JLC manufacture, helping to make it the icon it is today for the maison.
