IWC Yacht Club A white gold and diamond-set bracelet watch with date, Circa 1975 萬國 航海精英 白金鑲鑽石鏈帶腕錶,備日期顯示,約1975年製 Dial: black Calibre: automatic, jewelled Case: 18k white gold, screw down case back Case number: 2'247'602 Closure: 18k white gold IWC bracelet and folding clasp Size: 38 mm diameter, bracelet circumference approximately 170 mm Signed: case, dial and movement Accessories: none An absolute treasure from the quartz crisis era, the Yacht Club is Gerald Genta iteration of the "Jumbo" sports watch for IWC. Introduced in the 1970s, the present Yacht Club fully expresses Gerald Genta's design language, featuring an octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet. The present watch is elevated with diamonds on the indexes and bezel, the case further decorated with "bark wood" like pattern. The clasp is stamped with the Gay Frères logo, an iconic bracelet maker from the vintage era. The IWC Yacht Club was part of a new series of sports watches of a high level of technical sophistication, with a view to distancing itself from the crowd of cheaper electronic watches. The general concept of this new family of Club watches originated in the Yacht Club that was launched in 1967 and was a way to have a more contemporary and sporty design. The present example is retained in very crisp original condition and is seldom seen anywhere on the market.
