Two more creative aspects: the date window is widened by a day in either direction giving the appearance of an airplane altimeter, and when in the dark, the dial reveals a wonderfully minimalist appearance – only the hands and the 3,6, and 9 indices are illuminated. The color scheme of iridescent black, olive drab, chocolate brown, red and cream are matched to perfection. The new Miramar chronograph with military-style design is characterized by the metallic tones of the ceramic case and the classic military colours. The unconventional division into an external chapter ring and an inner hour circle is a reference to the deck watches of the 1930s and 40s, and thus the historic legacy of IWC Pilot's Watches.
