Intended as a professional dive watch, this watch is also an eye-catching piece on the wrist. In addition to being waterproof to 10 bar of pressure (about 100 meters/300 feet) and having the new IWC Safe Dive internal/external bezel combination, the Deep Three features mechanical depth gauges to display the wearer’s current depth and the maximum depth on a given dive at the same time. Sure, a dive computer will do that – but this is your backup in case of failure. Or this is just one of the best-looking 46mm dive watches you’ll ever wear. At 46mm in diameter and 16.5mm thick, it’s admittedly a big watch, but its titanium case keeps it feeling light on your wrist, and optically it appears less bulky than its stainless steel predecessor (the Deep Two) because of the slimmer rotating bezel with its rounded recessed grips. In the world of true dive watches, this is an unrivaled tool watch. The Deep Three features a helium escape valve for saturation diving and is equipped with the IWC SafeDive System, which is the proprietary combination internal/external rotating bezel. The external titanium bezel rotates both ways, but when turned counter-clockwise it moves the internal timing bezel in one-minute increments. Between 0 and 15 there are blue one-minute markings, with additional bright white markings in five minute increments and a triangle at zero. The hands are super-luminova with distinctive red edges and the hacking center seconds hand has a matching red and white arrow at the tip. At 2 o'clock on the case you'll find the reset button for the maximum depth gauge, and down at 4 o'clock is the cover for the special bezel's clutch mechanism (found at 9 o'clock on most other Aquatimers). At 9 o'clock on this watch is the intake system for the depth gauge, which uses water pressure to calculate the appropriate depth.
