IWC Ingenieur IW3508

Description

IWC Ingenieur 3508 Ingenieur 500000 A/m Steel

A ref. 3508 IWC Ingenieur 500K A/m, a very technically accomplished Ingenieur made from '89-'92 that was the first wristwatch to top 500K A/m resistance. Its 34mm steel case incorporates a soft iron Faraday cage and beryllium/nobium hairspring, the first of its kind. For comparison, the famous Rolex Milgauss is so named for its 1K Gauss resistance, which is only about 80K A/m. It proved so expensive to develop that IWC lost money on each one sold. Total production of the 3508 lasted just under four years, during which it is estimated that around 1500 examples were made, of which fewer than 614 will be this steel only. This example includes its original box. This example presents excellent overall condition. The dial is flawless with no damage visible anywhere, same for its tritium, of which all pips are present and aged to a cream tone, matched in the handset. Its case is strong but has likely seen a very light polish and sports moderate level surface wear. The 500K engraving is very deep with black enamel paint still present. This watch is not a safe queen but still in strong overall condition. It comes with a full bracelet, running well within spec.
