This IWC Ingenieur collection was first introduced in 1955, designed as a highly durable timepiece with resistance to magnetic fields, making it ideal for professionals working in conditions with strong magnetic fields. Over the years, the Ingenieur line evolved, incorporating advancements in materials and movements. The Ingenieur AMG Titanium IW3227-03, inspired by IWC’s collaboration with Mercedes-AMG, showcases the brand’s expertise in engineering precision timepieces with a motorsport-inspired design.
- Material: Titanium
- Diameter: 42mm (excluding the original crown)
- Crystal: Sapphire glass (perfect condition)
The titanium case with sandblaseted finish offers a combination of strength and lightweight wearability as titanium is resistant to corrosion and scratches. The case is in an excellent condition, it shows only very light traces of use, and it is complete with its original screwed in back and inner soft-iron movement-cover to protect the watch against magnetic fields. The sapphire crystal is also in pristine condition. The watch has its original black dial with a highly legible layout. The bold Arabic numerals along with the luminescent hands and markers, enhance visibility in low-light conditions. The date display at 3 o’clock integrates seamlessly into the design. The red numerals on the outer minutes track add a subtle contrast. The dial is in an excellent condition with no patina or discoloration. This watch is powered by the IWC Caliber 80110, introduced in 2005, it is an automatic movement designed for sports and tool watches, particularly the IWC Ingenieur series.
This movement is based on the architecture of the Valjoux 7750 but modified by IWC to improve shock resistance, durability, and efficiency. One of its most notable features is the Pellaton winding system, a mechanism developed by Albert Pellaton in the 1950s, which enhances winding efficiency by utilizing a bi-directional pawl-winding system rather than a conventional gear-based mechanism. This system allows the rotor to convert movement in both directions into stored energy, reducing wear and increasing long-term reliability. The Cal. 80110 is built with a proprietary shock- absorbing system and a reinforced escapement, making it well-suited for demanding environments. The movement remained in production until approximately 2015, when IWC transitioned to newer in-house calibers. With its robust engineering, precision-focused design, and improved durability, the 80110 caliber is as an interesting and reliable movement
The watch is fitted with its original black textile and leather strap, secured with its original steel buckle. The strap is in an excellent – near new - condition. This *WC Ingenieur AMG Titanium has been fully serviced in-house and is in good working order. It comes with a six-month guarantee and an originality certificate. This watch is available for worldwide shipping, additional details and images are available upon request.
