IWC Vintage Automatic Dress Watch VWS-2072
Here is a fantastic, all original IWC dress watch from 1971. The silver sunburst dial is in excellent condition, with barely any marks. It has the steel IWC block logo with the script logo underneath it and steel bar hour markers with lume dots at the outer ends, double at 12 o’clock. The steel baton hands are in very fine condition, with central black contrast and the original lume intact. The hack stops the seconds hand when the crown is pulled out to time-setting mode, to facilitate more accurate time setting. The steel framed window at 3 o’clock displays the date, which can be semi quick-set by first turning the hands through midnight so the date changes, then immediately turning the hands backwards to 23:45 and then forward through midnight again. Repeat as necessary.
The stainless steel bezel is in very fine condition apart from a shallow scratch at 6 o’clock and a small nick at around 8 o’clock. The stainless steel case with the original fish crown and faceted heavy lugs is in very fine condition, with only light overall wear. The case back is in very fine condition, with a brushed center and a polished rim with only a few marks.
The watch comes on an after market leather strap and buckle of good quality.
Inside the watch, IWC’s superb 8541B movement with the Pellaton winding system beats strongly and accurately to within about +-12 seconds per day. The watch was fully serviced in March 2023 and comes with a 12 month warranty on its proper mechanical functioning.
