The company was among the early adopters of large and round case shapes, a trend which was new to the market in the 1990s. The watches were made in Switzerland until 2017, where the company was acquired by three Swiss investors.
Ikepod relaunched in 2018, with Swiss designer Emmanuel Gueit (who designed the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore in 1993) at the creative helm.
The present pink gold Hemipod Horizon measures in at 42mm on the wrist and showcases the typical Ikepod round and smooth brused case style, depleted of any lugs. The timepiece is limited to a small batch of 10 pieces, the present example bearing the number 5. The back bears a small display window, revealing the escapement of the Swiss made cal. 2892A, fitted with a custom "golf ball" texture winding rotor, mimicking the dial.
Preserved in excellent condition with little to no signs of wear, the present example stands among the last Swiss produced Ikepod timepieces under the leadership of the brand's founding team.
