Heuer 11630 Autavia Orange Boy Black Dial 42mm ~1970s

Heuer 11630 Autavia Orange Boy Black Dial 42mm ~1970s Brand: Heuer Reference: 11630 MH Model: Autavia - Orange Boy, Black Dial, MH Bezel, on Heuer Leather Rally/Racing Strap Case Size: 42mm Circa: ~1970s Movement: Automatic, Cal. 12 Condition: Good Vintage Box: No Papers: No Heuer's pioneering work in Autavia chronographs has made its many models and variants produced between the 1960s to 1980s highly coveted by vintage Heuer collectors - and there are none other as sought after as the renowned 'Orange Boy'. Commonly used to describe the original 1163 and 11630 models with the distinct orange dial accents, the Orange Boy Autavia Chronograph 11630 built on top of the success of the short lived 1163 - redefining the model with a mineral glass crystal, a more robust case that partially covers the pushers, and a flatter, wider bezel - in this case, the 'MH' or Minute/Hour Bezel, featuring a tritium lume pip at the 12 o'clock arrow mark. It's C-shaped tonneau case securely houses the then newly developed Cal.12 self-winding movement that has made the automatic Autavia Chronograph a known powerhouse. This specimen in particular is in excellent vintage condition, with a beautiful dial showing light patina on the subdials and tritium-painted hour markers, and small scratches and dings commensurate for its age.
