Hamilton – Trans-Continental Time-Zone B Original 1956 Solid 14kt. Gold Vintage Watch – Cal. 661

Brand: Hamilton Hamilton introduced the Trans-Continental Time Zone B in 1956 as part of a specialized collection addressing the needs of business travelers during the early commercial aviation era. Produced for two years from 1956 to 1957, this watch represented the premium variant within Hamilton’s time zone watch lineup, as it is 14-karat solid gold. The more common Trans-Continental A is the same watch, but with a 10-karat gold-filled case. The 33,8 mm 14-karat yellow gold case shows only minimal wear, The screw-down caseback, marked with Time Zone B, Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster PA., displays the correct serial numbers and manufacturer markings. The plexiglass is in perfect condition. The silvered dial has Hamilton’s innovative US time-zone configuration. The fixed outer ring displays applied gold hour markers, while the rotating inner disc indicates five time zones through arrow markers: Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern, and Greenwich Mean Time. This mechanism, attached to the hour wheel, rotates with the hour hand, enabling simultaneous time reading across zones without manual adjustment. The dial demonstrates minimal aging with only a very light and uniform patina. The Swiss-made Hamilton caliber 661 automatic movement powers this timepiece. This 17- jewel workhorse movement, produced from 1951 to 1960, has a full-rotor automatic winding and operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour with 42-hour power reserve. The movement has bee serviced in-house servicing and keeps proper time. A period-appropriate vintage leather strap completes this watch. The watch will be delivered with a six-month guarantee and originality certificate. Worldwide shipping is available for serious collectors seeking authenticated Hamilton time zone complications from the golden age of American watchmaking.
