This is an original open face Hamilton 960 high grade lever set pocket watch made for railway service in the 1900s. The movement is spectacular and so is the stunning white gold case which has the Keystone J BOSS mark. The porcelain dial is marked Hamilton and is a so-called 4 foot dial which is also rare and absolutely flawless. The movement has 21 jewels and gorgeous damaskeening with gold jewel settings, gold train (gears), adjusted to 5 positions and for temperature variation. These precision railroad watches were used by senior conductors and engineers and the lever set design ensured that it was impossible to accidentally change the time. The 960 is very rare as it had a very low production run and extremely difficult to find in this new old stock condition.
