The design of this timepiece pays homage to the Model 23, which was a military spec watch that was supplied to the U.S. Air Force in WW1. The Case: Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Watch H76719530 Pioneer Automatic Mens features a robust 43mm case that is made out of stainless steel that has been treated to a brushed finish, which gives the watch a distinctive utilitarian feel. The case also bears a bi-directional black bezel, which displays a 60-minute scale that is presented in gold. The sides of the bezel are coined, which allows the bezel to be easily operated. The case also features an oversized ‘onion’ style crown, which is a common feature found on watches that were produced during the First World War, as they were easy-to-operate. The crown is embossed with the Hamilton ‘H-logo’. Anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass provides the watch with optimum protection against scratches and shattering. On the other side of the case there is a see-through caseback which is also protected by sapphire crystal glass. The Dial: The design of the dial is centred around functionality, as it comes presented with a matte black grained base. It exhibits simplistic luminescent Arabic numerals, a 60-minute rail road track and luminescent cathedral style hands. The dial also features a small seconds display at 6 o’clock.
