With some incredible achievements to their name, such as the spring drive movement alongside several others, Grand Seiko has earned the right to dine with the big boys. Offering timepieces within several categories, there is seemingly nothing Grand Seiko cannot do, and the Sport GMT SBGN021G is a testament to that very fact. Launched in 2021, the SBGN021G was one of three new variants within Grand Seiko’s latest Sport GMT collection. Merging a casual aesthetic with the functionality of a sports watch, the SBGN021G boasts a fixed blue ceramic 24-hour bezel, a GMT hour hand, a diver-inspired winding crown set at 4 o’clock alongside its date aperture, and an impressive 200m of water resistance. Furthermore, with Grand Seiko’s beautifully polished zaratsu polishing throughout its 40mm stainless steel case, the SBGN021G is a wonderfully executed timepiece that should certainly exceed Grand Seiko’s own expectations. Featuring a beautiful blue dial, the SBGN021G is as beautiful as it is well-built and capable. Powered by one of Grand Seiko’s latest quartz movements, the cal. 9F86, the SBGN021G features a recoil adjustment mechanism to prevent the seconds hand from shaking too violently each second and an instant date change. A truly spectacular timepiece designed to be worn and enjoyed, the SBGN021G has everything a watch collector could want in a functional modern sports watch. Famed for their incredible dials, the SBGN021G does not disappoint with its beautiful blue dial housing a subtle ring of light blue within the rehaut of its southern hemisphere which acts as a subtle day and night indicator for its GMT function. Besides their dials, Grand Seiko are also well-known for their impeccable watch cases. This is thanks to their Zaratsu polishing technique whereby the surface is mirror polished to such an extent that it appears black. Coming as new, this example comes with all of its original paperwork and packaging.
