I am a watch enthusiast who has built up a rather eclectic collection of watches, usually staying away from the mainstream and going for watches with a bit of history or unique style about them. I now work part time from home and I am therefore thinning out my collection to generate some funds and allow others to enjoy these beautiful timepieces. The Grand Seiko line is the top of the range of Seiko's watches and uses a hybrid mechanical/quartz movement to give the accuracy of a quartz watch, but with the overall feel of an automatic watch. The specification of the watch is: -Case: 43.5x43.5mm mm titanium case with sapphire crystal. Sapphire crystal display back showing the beautifully decorated Grand Seiko movement. -Dial: Black dial with gold indices, minute and second markers around the edge, and three sub dials for operating the chronograph function as well as a power reserve gauge. The date window is featured at the 3 o'clock position and there is a 24 hour hand showing the GMT time at any time of the day. Operation of the chronograph is by means of the pushers either side of the crown, all of which have screw down mechanisms to aid waterproofing of the watch. -The watch comes on a titanium bracelet, with titanium deployant clasp on which the Grand Seiko logo is marked in gold colouring. Extra links are provided so that you can increase the bracelet size for larger wrists. One of the criticisms of automatic watches, even those with COSC certification is the lack of accuracy over time. Whilst quartz movements can solve this, watch enthusiasts feel that this has taken the soul out of owning a watch, and for this reason Seiko devised the spring drive mechanism in their Grand Seiko line of watches, which provides exceptional accuracy whilst still retaining the workings of an automatic watch due to the hybrid nature of how the watch operates. I can honestly say that this is the most accurate of all of my watches, bar none, but still wears like an automatic watch, particularly when you feel the movement of the rotor as you move your arm. The watch is in immaculate condition, supplied in its original inner and outer boxes with international guarantee card and instruction booklet, and would make a perfect gift for someone. The watch has just come back from Seiko in Japan where it received a full service and case restoration by Seiko at a cost of £1,200, so you will be getting a watch that is as good as new and with the reassurance that it will work faultlessly for many years to come. The travel box shown in the picture is what was supplied by Seiko as part of the watch service.
