This is how sharp edged the 4420-9000 was meant to be when they introduced it in 1967. It is the very first version with ‘Diashock’ writing that was only produced for 1 year. Then the writing got replaced with a small logo. The gem like case shape defined the design language of every Grand Seiko to follow. As this piece was created to be a physical example of the design guidelines for all future Grand Seiko’s, watch enthusiast call this piece the Grammar of Design. Condition is according to it’s age. Visible wear, hairlines and scratches are visible. But never polished and therefore al the sharp case lines are all intact. The golden medallion on the back is often damaged by sweaty Japanese wrists. But this example was owned by an American collector and the golden medallion is fully intact.
