Gerald Genta, Safari Gefica Ref. 2792 bronze wristwatch 1990s Quartz movement Silvered dial with indexes Diam. mm 34 with box, paper, extra straps and compass on the strap In 1984, hunters Geoffroy, Fissore and Canali (whose initials gave rise to the name "Gefica") commissioned a watch that broke the mold. Gérald Genta responded with a bronze case, an unusual material chosen for its aesthetic warmth that recalled African atmospheres and for its ability to not reflect light during safaris. The first version of the Gefica offered a calendar and moon phases, powered by a quartz movement. Today, after several reissues, this watch with a distinctive design is produced by Bvlgari, heir to the Gérald Genta brand.
